Hylan Houses
In April 2025, Hylan Houses— located in the Bushwick neighborhood in Brooklyn, was the fourth NYCHA development to vote to become a Public Housing Preservation Trust site. A run-off election between the Trust and NYCHA’s PACT program were held with 176 residents voted, representing 61% of heads of households with 150 voting for the Trust. Their voices were heard, and they had ownership in shaping the future of their homes - now let’s get to work!
Resident Partnerships
The Trust plans on collaborating with residents and stakeholders throughout the duration of the project to ensure that resident voices are heard and included. We want residents to be active collaborators in the various processes like design to vendor selection. The Trust and NYCHA will host meetings near Hylan Houses to inform residents and other stakeholders of the project process.
Upcoming Activities
Resident Redevelopment Advisory Committee (RRAC)
The RRAC is a resident-led advisory board designed to include community leadership, transparency, and equity through all phases of the Hylan Houses modernization process.
This is a paid opportunity — selected residents will receive $1,500 per year!
Purpose
The group will represent resident interests and priorities and serve as a key partner to provide advice throughout the renovation process.
RRAC members will work closely with the Trust and NYCHA to co-design solutions and monitor the project.

Attend meetings and join project discussions
Share information and listen to your neighbors
Represent the interests of your community
Review materials and give feedback
Help choose vendors and visit sites
Work together to make decisions
Eligibility
Current Hylan Houses resident
18 years or older
Must be in good standing with NYCHA (i.e., no active eviction proceedings)
Interested in the redevelopment of Hylan Houses
• Able to commit time and engage constructively ( Minimum 48 hours to maximum 144 hours per year)

On August 9, 2025, the Trust celebrated Family Day at Hylan Houses with residents, neighbors, and community partners, coming together to share project updates and enjoy an afternoon of activities and connection.
